Looks Back: My Top of 2025

My favorite games, movies, series and music of 2025

A slightly special post for the end of the year — instead of talking about front-end topics, I'll share my favorite games, movies, series, and music of 2025. Maybe you'll find something interesting to check out during the holidays!

Series & Movies

Andor (Disney+)

After an amazing first season, Tony Gilroy and his team concluded the story of Cassian Andor. Whether you're a Star Wars fan or not, this is a must-watch. The writing, acting, cinematography, and costumes are all top-notch.

It's a bit disappointing that Nicholas Britell, the composer from season one, didn't return to score the entire season: the music is still good but not as memorable overall.

If you played Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you can hear some of the game themes in the series' soundtrack!

The Penguin (HBO)

This series is a spin-off of the Batman movies from 2022. It focuses on Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin) and his rise in Gotham's criminal underworld. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this show is, thanks to the great acting from Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti.

The Prestige

I finally watched this movie by Christopher Nolan. I can't say much without spoilers, but I really enjoyed it. The story is well written and the plot twists are excellent. For me, it's one of Nolan's best films, so if you haven't seen it yet, give it a watch!

Games

Hades II

I finished the first Hades game this year and I loved it. So I directly jumped into Hades II a few months after its release. The first installment was already generous, the second is even bigger: new characters, weapons, mana mechanics... The art direction and music are still top-notch.

If you liked the first one or enjoy roguelike games, don't hesitate! You just need 50 hours to finish it 🥲.

The second game is smaller than the first. Why ? Because the characters and environments are 3D models instead of 2D sprites, which saves a lot of space.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

I started this game in 2024 but dropped it because my PC wasn't powerful enough to run it well. I came back to it this year after upgrading my setup (from a Nvidia 3070 to a 5070 Ti). The game is fun and beautiful: if you like Indiana Jones franchise, you will enjoy it. It isn't revolutionary, but it's a solid action-adventure with good puzzles and exploration.

Music

Below is the Spotify playlist of my top songs from 2025. I'm still a big fan of Magdalena Bay and listened to a lot of '90s music this year. Two albums I really enjoyed are Wet Leg's "moisturizer" and Men I Trust's "Equus Caball."

I saw Hiromi with her band Sonicwonder live this November (2025) and it was an amazing experience: incredible skill and improvisation throughout the show.

Hope you find something interesting to check out during the holidays. Have a great end of the year, see you in 2026!
